National Poetry Month--Day 20--Poetry Generator--ABAB poem

Apparently there are all kinds of poetry generators. I got mine from one of the sites on this site. So the first poem is generated. After that, not so much.

Love You Always

In summertime, our love is bilious, like skunk weeds floating in the breeze.
In wintertime, our love is warm — it tumbles from heels to toes.
If skies are blue, our love is underwhelmed — two people grunting in the sun.
If thunder rolls our love is overwhelmed, a refuge from the flagellating rain.
When spring flowers bloom, our love is bold, like puce petals on the night blooming Sirius.
When autumn leaves fall, our love is aluminum, shining bright like a harvest plunger.
From Flag day till Columbus day our love will continue to oxygenate.
From season to season I love you always! My one, my only, my Pookie.

Now THAT one was fun. I'll do another.

My Love, Lon

Your skin glows like the apricot, blossoms dusty as the pitcher plant in the purest hope of spring.
My yearning heart rises to your sack-but voice and leaps like a newt at the whisper of your name, Lon.
The evening ascends in on a great condor wing.
I am calmed by your liripipe hood that I carry into the twilight of rubber duckbeams and hold next to my nose hair.
I am filled with hope that I may dry your tears of Windex.
As my epiglottis falls from my underpants, it reminds me of your termite.
In the hushed, I listen for the last squeal of the spring.
My heated jugular vein leaps to my bumroll. I wait in the crystal moonlight for your secret belaying pin so that we may crawl as one, jugular vein to jugular vein, in search of the glorious chartreuse and spiritual 8 track tape of love.

Rofl rofl rofl okay that was fun too. Here's a much, much tamer one:

Happy Mother's Day!
M is for making me feel at home wherever you are.
O is for opening doors to look beyond your small world.
T is for training me gently how to treat the world through Testimony.
H is for hands always busy honing new skills while helping make people happy.
E is for ever working to come closer to Christ.
R is for reflecting on the power of love and service.
I Love YOU!
I think I'll try another generator. That one didn't do anything.

I am An ice cream connosiur who can't spell but can write.
I wonder if I'll ever ride in a balloon or see a water bear or a honey badger.
I hear doves droning on and on and on and on and on and on...until they explode in a PIFF of feathers.
I see buffalo herds flying across the prairy.
I want to lose enough weight to make a baby hippopotamus.
I am an ice cream connosiur who can't spell but can write.

I pretend that I have a real friend who actually cares to connect.
I feel excited to meet a cameleopard.
I touch the scales of the hypogriff to make them change color
I worry about being needed and having a place for myself.
I cry about my father's relationship with me.
I am an ice cream connosiur who can't spell but can write.

I understand there is phage burgeoning out there in the world.
I say hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and act like I can make a difference.
I dream of making a difference in peoples' lives.
I try to make contact with my children.
I hope someday I'll be more than an annoyance to them.
I am an ice cream connoisur who can't spell but can write.

(I left the misspelled words in on purpose. And I can spell.)

And now for something completely different and generated only by me:

THE RING
I got a present for my own
A birthday gift for me
The cut glass ruby on it shone
With crimson gloriously

It only fit my finger small
It rested there so sweet
I worried not about it all
It's reddish glow to greet

It was my favorite birthday thing
Because I loved its hue
God must have known I loved that ring
Too great a stock did I imbue.

Then suddenly I saw it gone
My finger felt so bare.
I looked and looked 'til I was done
But found no traces anywhere.

And then some scriptures came to mind
About which things to seek.
The Lord asked me His work to find
Instead to help the meek.

"The rest," He said, "Will come to they
Who put My kingdom first."
I must, instead of searching, pay
Attention to my "thirst"

Things of God must be my goal
Instead of worldly gold
For seeking treasure stunts the soul
And that I cannot hold.

So now I read God's words today
Instead of seeking rings
I'll treasure up the words He says
Instead of worldly things.
(But being human, I still can't help hoping.)

National Poetry Month--Day 18--Spine Poetry

Today we're doing Spine Poetry. If you're wondering about needing a chiropractor, check here. If you just want to look at my spines, voila. Spines:

Thomas S. Monson to the rescue!
He prophesies
Sunrise in the west
And an ingathering
Of saints.

At nightfall
A ten second kiss
Holding wonder
Scattering stars
What Rhapsody!

The Winter King
Brings snowdrifts
The snow is rising
Our passport to survival?
Stand a little taller
And a pillar of fire.

Stand a little taller
Daughter of destiny
Daughter of God
Our Elder Brother, the Mortal Messiah
Has the power of deliverance
Out of darkness
And into the light
Family power!

On this glorious spring day we are doing Haiku's. Not only is it US national haiku day, but international haiku day, so there. If you still don't know a thing about haiku, go here. And here are my haiku offerings:

National Poetry Month--Day 15--Tan Renga Poem--Dog Collaboration

We're supposed to collaborate on this poem. If you're clueless about what a Tan Renga is, go here. You'd think I'd have someone, but my husband is considered necessary, so he still works Outside. All I have is the Extremely Talented and amazingly intelligent and verbose Dogeroo, Sir Riles Barksalot. So here it is:

DOGEROO

Fearless hunter dog
Despoiler of trashcan wheels
Guards our little house
Bark bark whiiiiiiine woof sniff growl sniff
GROWL woof bark whiiiiiiine sniff bark BARK!
(Which means:
Something's living in the shed
Eating it will make it stop.)

If in the course of the day I find someone human to share with, we'll do another...;) So my daughter joined me for this one:

Run little Gecko,

Escape from Riley's sharp teeth,

He's full of dog food,

little dash, sharp eyes follow,
oops no tail, it will grow back.
And now for something completely and utterly different:

One Blade of Grass
One blade of grass so alone, so small
Insignificant in the scheme of it all
Hardly worth mentioning should it fall
No revelation should it stand tall

But unite it with millions of others
Standing together with sisters and brothers
Being good grass like their fathers and mothers
A verdant sea of soft green feathers.

Together they gladden the eyes and the heart
Filling their measure and doing their part
United, a force, while divided, mere starts
Making the world a little less tart

Perhaps we can learn from the little grass blade
When we're going through life with our feet and heart clayed
Reach out to your neighbors 'til the dragon is slayed
Apart you're defeated, together, well-played

And now for something completely different:
I'm doing a dictionary of Jane Austen words and terms she used in all her writings with pictures I'll draw, plus some words from contemporary writers. I feel Jane and I have become friends of a sort. I don't know if she would have turned up her nose at me, but I hope not. I feel we have much the same acerbic wit at times. This is a poem for Jane:

You stand in the vanguard,
A woman alone,
Writing about the heart,
From a broken place of your own.
Your work still speaks
From the dust
Down through the years
For you understand
Basic goodness
There is no need for
Sex or violence
When an incisive mind
Is set to untangle
The human condition.
When sacrifice has
Flavored your words
With truth.
I am in awe of your
Delicacy of mind
Your stinging comentary
The way you can
Excise the ridiculous
With a few sharp words.
You expose the selfish,
The greedy, the proud,
The wistful, the hopeful.
All of humankind's
Foibles filleted for us
By your willing scalpel.
Words are your tools,
Oh wordsmith extraordinaire!
Would that I could be
A ready disciple.

National Poetry Month--Day Thirteenth--Tricube Poem--Dancing Doll

Okay. Now for my tricube poem. Yeah. I didn't know what that was either. So I went here to find out. Here it is:

 Dancing Doll
Wooden toes
Oft you fall

Then you wake
Stretch your limbs
Breath you take

Music starts
Spark catches
In your heart

Violin
Scarred, battered
No value

Master's hand
Fills the air
Sweet music

Now they pay
For magic
Now they see.
