Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Happy Birthday to Doctor Seuss
May he rest in suit of puce.
May he sleep in piles of fluff
Which was gathered from the Schmuffs.

I hope he's watching from afar
On his Schprinklehorn bubble car
Watching as we try to live
The simple lessons he did give.

Treat your neighbors as if they
Were your favorite mates of play.
Stars on bellies matter not
When we treat them like they've got.

Thank you, Doctor, for your smarts
We sure loved your writing arts
Whimsical pictures made us glad
When we were down and feeling bad.

May you know that we are proud
Of your gift to the writing crowd
We hope you're writing up above
Not making ooblek, which we do not love.

Happy Birthday!
H. Linn Murphy
